Bankruptcy case lurches on: SME settlement discussions heat up

A bankruptcy case involving the Billings-based Southern Montana Electric Generation and Transmission Cooperative heated up again late last week.

Two of Southern Montana’s six members — the city of Great Falls and Yellowstone Valley Electric — have quit the co-op after settling their cases in the $3 million range. That leaves four rural electric co-ops from Lewistown east to fend for themselves.
