Electric City Power close to closing for good

Monday night’s Electric City Power Board meeting was not electrifying, but it was nearly historic.

That’s because city of Great Falls officials are about to pull the plug on an energy venture that is expected to cost the city $15.3 million in all.

The meeting was not historic because it was not the last. City commissioners, meeting as the power board, will hold another meeting of the board Dec. 2 in the Civic Center. The main event will be a public hearing on a recommendation from the board on whether to shutter the money-losing utility.
