Electricity options to be weighed: Obtaining new power supplier on city agenda

The city of Great Falls, which stands to lose about $15 million on its near-dead electric energy venture, is looking for a new power supplier.

Its longtime wholesale power supplier, Billings-based Southern Montana Electric Generation and Transmission Cooperative, is mired in federal bankruptcy proceedings. The city this summer managed to escape as a customer by agreeing to a $3.25 million settlement.
